All Taken Care Of
I thought it was All taken care of: Packed away, Safely disposed of, Tightly contained.
I told myself It couldn't return: All gone, Refuse burned, Completely undone.
But just when My eyes were diverted, My attention nowhere near full, Again there came the hurt!
I try to find my Ever-pointing fingers: Cast the blame aside And the sin that hopes to linger. I've got to run & hide!
I beat myself senseless, Ashamed the pain is back, And afraid of what comes next. Oh, what strength I lack! I cannot do what's best!
But just when I thought hope was averted And faith had become null, I found I had so much to learn.
It is not me. It can never be me! So why do I want it so badly?
I cannot do it. So why do I try it? Might that I give up madly.

After working part- & full-time for an independent Christian bookstore for 6 years, Adam P. Newton feels like he has a pretty decent grasp upon just how weird the Christian sub-culture has been and still is. There’s not too much he hasn't read, listened to, or seen in all things "Christian", especially in terms of what kinds of products get Christians excited – whether to start buying or start boycotting. And if you'd ever want to know the details of what working in a Christian bookstore is really like, just ask him (but don't ask to purchase a Precious Moments(r) doll – he'd have to hurt you). But, on the whole, Adam enjoys good books, good music, good food, good beer, good wine, good whisky, and good conversation with good friends. You can find him at his blog: Dryvetyme Onlyne ( http://dryvetymeonlyne.theliquidcell.com) and has work featured in Burnside Writers Collective and HM Magazine.
